You might have noticed a change to the text on the Punch Bowl Fund Nomination Board for July. Rather than picking the top three names based purely on votes, we're only picking two based on votes. The third name will be a wild card, chosen based on comments—not sheer number of comments, but quality of comments. Fresh comments are great, but we're also going to look over the entire list to find comments that inspire us.

An unspeakable tragedy occurred today. A giant inflatable rubber duck was found deflated under mysterious circumstances yesterday morning in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour. WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THIS? Why would anyone rob the world of the pure, unadulterated joy of a giant inflatable rubber duck? This upcoming weekend is certainly bound to be one full of excess—Baz Luhrmann's long-awaited film adaptation of The Great Gatsby hits theaters on Friday, and it seems as though the city has gotten in the spirit with a slew of opulent and over-the-top arts events! Ah, it's that time again. Exactly six months after Halloween, it's finally Walpurgisnacht. This festive spring holiday is traditionally celebrated with fire dancing and pole dancing—that is, prancing around giant bonfires and wrapping colorful ribbons around a maypole. This celebration is a common theme throughout the arts, and what better way to ring in spring than by taking Walpurgisnacht #OnTheTown?!

Hold the phones—literally! This week, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cellular telephone! The ubiquitous little instrument that we severely take for granted and protect as if it were a newborn has certainly been through many metamorphoses over the past four decades.
Well, friends, you had best call the fire department*, because the results are in. Opus Affair is officially on fire. On Tuesday night, BostInno held their first annual 50 on Fire event, naming Opus Affair one of 50 of the city's "inventors, disrupters, luminaries, and newsmakers" (did I mention this was out of over 2,000 nominees and 200 finalists?). We are just humbled and grateful that the folks at BostInno and the countless nominators from the public think so much of what we do here.
This week's blog is about spring. Specifically, where in God's name is it? Nobody seems to know. It's nearly April and I trudged through snow and rain inches deep to get to work this week. Global warming is, very apparently, quickly taking hold of us and showing no mercy. Fortunately, I have the perfect solution for you! What's new, Buenos Aires?! Pope Francis, that's what! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.) Seriously, though, history was made this week as white smoke billowed out of that famous Vatican chimney and Jorge Mario Bergoglio stepped into those fabulous red [not] Prada loafers, thus transforming into Pope Francis—the first non-European pope since the year 741 (not a typo).
According to Internet wealth of knowledge Wikipedia, a filibuster is "any dilatory or obstructive tactic used to prevent a measure from being brought to a vote." This week, Rand Paul (not to be confused with Paul Rand or RuPaul) engaged in such behavior to delay some important political stuff.
